Nominated and shortlisted for the Yorkshire Jazz Vocalist of the Year in 2010, Derbyshire born vocalist Julie Edwards started her musical career gigging on the local pub scene in Leeds. Having been made redundant from her job in adult education, she signed up for a couple of courses at Leeds College of Music and ended up doing a postgraduate diploma in music. Following this, she turned professional and produced her first album 'About Time Too', before teaming up with saxophonist-turned-guitarist/bassist Kevin Dearden www.kevindearden.co.uk.
Together they have played hundreds of venues and festivals in the UK, and a few abroad. These days they regularly enjoy working as a duo, but they also regularly appear with their favourite top regional players, such as Ed Kainyek on saxes and Ed Barnwell on piano. Kevin has recently returned to his roots as an electric bass player, and you will be able to catch Julie & Kevin over the coming months in a trio/quartet/quintet format with piano, sax, drums and Kevin on his new 7-string electric bass.
They have produced three CD's; 'Eden', 'Connections' and 'Rhyme or Reason' which were featured on Michael Parkinson's and Humphrey Lyttelton's shows on BBC Radio 2 and on local radio stations in the UK and elsewhere.

|"Not that they need my praise, but I thought Julie and Kevin were excellent. Julie is one very good singer, perfect intonation, lovely feel for each song. Kevin, an excellent accompanist, but when it was his turn to solo, terrific. I will certainly be hoping to be there for their next appearance at The Grand (Clitheroe, North Lancs)" musician Eddie Lomax|
